How to Calculate Exact Profit & Bank Settlement on Meesho, Flipkart & Amazon India
Many new Indian e-commerce sellers focus only on the difference between their wholesale purchase price and the customer listing price, only to discover at the end of the month that marketplace shipping fees, GST adjustments, and customer returns have eaten into their capital. Using our E-Commerce Seller Profit & GST Calculator helps you model every single rupee before your product goes live.
1. Understanding Meesho 0% Commission Settlement
While Meesho charges 0% marketplace commission, sellers still pay forward shipping charges based on weight slabs (e.g., under 500 grams) plus 18% GST on shipping. In addition, 0.5% TCS and 0.1% TDS are deducted on the net taxable value and credited to your GST electronic cash ledger and Form 26AS.
2. Flipkart & Amazon Multi-Tier Fee Structure
Flipkart Seller Hub and Amazon Seller Central deduct four components from every order: Commission/Referral Fee (percentage of selling price), Fixed/Closing Fee (based on price tier), Collection Fee (for COD or prepaid payment gateway processing), and National/Regional/Local Shipping Fee.
3. Why Customer Returns vs. Courier RTO Matter Differently
In Indian e-commerce, there are two types of undelivered or returned orders:
- Courier RTO (Return to Origin): When a buyer refuses delivery at the doorstep or the address is unreachable. Most marketplaces do not charge reverse shipping on Courier RTO, so your primary loss is the ₹6–₹10 polybag, box, and 4×6 thermal label cost.
- Customer Return (DTO): When a customer accepts the parcel and later raises a return request. Marketplaces charge both forward shipping and reverse shipping fees (often ₹120 to ₹180 combined), which must be factored into your selling price buffer.
